CLF Funding, New Vehicles, Distributed to Marsabit Conservancies

Transforming lives is at the heart of NRT’s community conservancy model, which seeks to positively impact community livelihoods through conservation.

In line with this goal, during an event presided over by H.E. Mohamud Ali, the Marsabit Governor, Ksh 31.3 million was disbursed to NRT member community conservancies of Shurr, Jaldesa, and Songa in Marsabit County, through the Conservancy Livelihoods Fund (CLF), which seeks to empower communities to identify, plan, and implement their own development programs.

Brand new vehicles were also distributed to the three community conservancies, with the generous support of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group, Fonds Français pour l’Environnement Mondial (FFEM), and the Rainforest Trust, to aid in their day-to-day operations.

Additionally, the Northern Kenya Rangelands Carbon Project (NKRCP), through Melako Community Conservancy, gave levy fees of Ksh 1.8 million (a 5% levy) to the Marsabit County Government to support drought relief interventions in the region.
