Does an elephant at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary care if his keeper is in uniform or not?

Yes!

“When you wear different clothing every day, elephants might not recognize you, but with a uniform which they are used to, they do not become agitated,” says Lpanuini Lenarum, one of the keepers at Reteti

And thanks to the Escape Foundation, all 47 keepers at Reteti have now received brand new uniforms.

“I am so happy to receive new attire for purposes of work it goes a long way to aid of taking care of rescued wildlife,” says Lpanuini.

The keepers at Reteti work day and night shifts, watching over their elephants 24/7. As well as feeding them, escorting them out on walks in the bush and cleaning their stables the keepers are responsible for getting the calves ready for release back into the wild.

“We are thankful to Escape Foundation for facilitating Reteti with the uniform, and our continued partnership is highly valued,” said, Osman Hussein, Northern Rangelands Trust Operation Manager.
