The 2015 Rhino Charge raised an incredible Ksh. 4.2 million (US$ 43,000) for Namunyak Community Conservancy. This breaks all previous Rhino Charge records. A total of Ksh. 108 million was raised for Rhino Ark Charitable Trust projects around Kenya.

The Rhino Charge is legendary in Kenya. An annual off-road motorsport competition, this event takes place on some of the toughest terrain in the country, and attracts thousands of people. Every year, the funds raised from this event are split between the host community, and other projects supported by the Rhino Ark Charitable Trust. Rhino Ark’s main aim is to conserve and protect Kenya’s mountain range ecosystems, the so-called “Water Towers”.

NRT conservancies have now hosted the Rhino Charge six times in its 25 year history, receiving over Ksh. 107 million (around US$ 1 million). Namunyak has now hosted the event twice. The Conservancy management team will most likely dedicate this year’s funds towards conservancy operating costs (eg. rangers salaries) and to community projects such as education bursaries and health care.
